For most of us, there’s nothing like getting a really good deal on a useful item, or finding an undiscovered treasure. You can do both — and support a good cause in the process — at the Mendocino Coast District Hospital’s Hospice Thrift Store.

Donations, which must be clean and sellable, are accepted anytime during regular business hours. The store accepts some items on consignment (no clothing). It’s best to call and talk to a manager if you have items you would like to consign.

Sassy ShoesThere is always a need for more volunteers. Work includes accepting, sorting and pricing donations; assisting customers on the sales floor; organizing racks of clothes; cleaning and ringing up sales. Hours are flexible. Currently help is needed primarily on the weekends and on weekday afternoons. Call Manager Heidi Kraut to 707-964-7778.

The store sells a wide variety of clothing and accessories, books, small electronics, kitchenware, home decor and furniture at irresistible prices. There is also usually some medical equipment available for purchase, like bedside commodes, folding walkers, and crutches.
