After local resident and artist James Maxwell scheduled his hernia surgery at MCDH, he contacted Medical Support Hypnotherapist Alena Guest, CHT, a member of the hospital’s complementary health staff.
“I had concerns about my surgery, so I made an appointment with her,” he says. Alena gathered information, and talked with James about his concerns and his understanding of hypnotherapy and its benefits in healing.
When surgery time came, James was ready. “I told the nurse wheeling me in, that I would not experience any trauma from this experience, because I had been hypnotized. I sailed through the surgery, had a speedy recovery, and returned to a normal routine within a month — bravo, Alena, and thank you again!”
