Ft. Bragg, California – July 26, 2016 – Beginning Monday, August 1st, the North Coast Family Health Center, Mendocino Coast District Hospital’s Clinic, will introduce a new Immediate Care service for minor medical needs.
The new service is available during the month of August from Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Immediate Care will expand to 7 days a week as soon as additional providers join the care team. The service is designed to provide visitors and residents alike with immediate care on a walk in basis. Patients can be seen the same day by the Immediate Care Nurse Practitioner with no appointment necessary.
Immediate care is for times when someone has a minor medical need but can’t get an appointment with their regular doctor or the doctor’s office is closed. It is also for visitors to our area who have immediate medical needs that can’t or shouldn’t wait but don’t want to sit for hours waiting for care in a busy Emergency Room.
Another advantage of Immediate Care is that it costs less than a visit to the Emergency Room. Because the care is provided in a clinic setting, necessary treatment can be provided at a much lower cost to patients.
“Immediate Care means that patients with minor but immediate medical needs don’t have to wait in our busy Emergency Department while those with more serious, life threatening injuries or illnesses are treated promptly,” said Bob Edwards, CEO. “This offers our community and our visitors a new option to have their care needs met quickly and reliably at North Coast Family Health Center without the cost of an Emergency Room visit.”
Treatment of earaches, ticks and other bites, marine life and insect stings, minor burns, strains, minor injuries, coughs, colds, flu, and respiratory infections is now available much more quickly than before with the advantage of having a full service ER minutes away if it is needed.
“I’m excited about providing extended hours and a no appointment necessary option in our community. By introducing Immediate Care, we can provide great, timely care in our Family Health Center,” said Ilona Horton, Practice Administrator at North Coast Family Health Center. “We have an experienced Immediate Care Nurse Practitioner and friendly, courteous staff ready to provide excellent care for minor medical needs.”
An important note for Partnership Health Plan (PHP) Beneficiaries: PHP requires that you be treated at the facility to which you are assigned. If you are not assigned to NCFHC, you must call PHP Member Services at 707-863-4120 and request permission to be seen at NCFHC.
