Medical Associates, from left, physicians Diane Harris, John
Gallo, Wendy Martin, Jason Kirkman, David Newell, Buz Graham,
and Richard Sacks-Wilner enthusiastically break ground at
the site of the new Mendocino Coast Medical Plaza.
On
September 22, Mendocino Medical Associates (MMA), Dr. Linda
James and developer/general contractor Gary Bruno celebrated
the groundbreaking for the new Mendocino Coast Medical Plaza.
The Medical Plaza will host mixed-use medical offices,
including MMA and Dr. James.
This
approximately 12,000 square foot building is a joint effort
between local physicians, the Mendocino Coast Hospital Foundation
and G.L. Bruno Associates, Inc. The Medical Plaza is
sited on land leased to the group by the Mendocino Coast District
Hospital, on the western portion of the hospital's campus.
Approximately
50 people were on hand to celebrate, including local physicians,
MMA staff, MCDH and MCHF Board members, hospital employees,
and interested members of the public.
Dr.
Linda James said, "I am so excited that I will have my own
space soon. This project has been a long time in the
making."
Dr.
Buz Graham, of MMA, explained that, "This project is the result
of two years of planning, and unprecedented cooperation and
collaboration between local physicians, MCDH, the Hospital
Foundation and the developer. This kind of collaboration
is absolutely essential in a small community such as ours."
Construction
will begin immediately and is scheduled for completion in
Spring 2005.

MCDH
Board member Don Tucker, MCHF Board member Joe Curren, MCHF
Executive Director Eve Yeomans, MCDH Executive Director Bryan
Ballard, MCDH Board President Charlene McAllister and MCDH
Board member Jim Hay each turn a shovel of soil during the
groundbreaking ceremony.
