Certified Clinicians
The Speech Pathology Department at MCDH is state licensed for inpatients and outpatients and provides assessment and treatment of speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders. Our clinicians are certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association.
Mendocino Coast District Hospital’s Speech Therapy department offers a full spectrum of services from birth through geriatrics.
Therapies and Evaluations
Therapies include aphasia, apraxia, articulation, dysphasia, voice, expressive language, receptive language, cognitive training and rehabilitation. Additionally, we offer Augmentative and Assistive Communication (AAC) evaluations and training, Videofloroscopic swallowing examinations and the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment program. During the summer months we offer group services for childhood speech and language therapy.
Maximizing Recovery
Our Speech and Language Pathologists assist clients in reaching their maximum potential for rehabilitation and habilitation of a communication or swallowing disorder. We focus on individual treatments that are functional and motivating for each client.
Therapy is coordinated with Rehabilitation Team members to enhance a trans-disciplinary approach.
