Today we announced that MCDH Chief Financial Officer Wayne Allen has notified us that he is resigning his position at Mendocino Coast District Hospital in order to accept the position of Chief Financial Officer at 40-bed North Hawaii Community Hospital in Kamuela on the Big Island of Hawaii. Wayne has been the key figure in a $6.5 million turnaround of the finances at our hospital and there is no way that we can ever repay him for everything that he has done for us. I’m extremely happy for Wayne and Bonnie in this fabulous opportunity. He will always be a part of the MCDH family no matter where he goes.

Last Saturday (Oct 18) approximately 40 local residents, including hospital employees, board of directors, doctors, advisory committee members, Foundation board (and staff), auxiliary and others, devoted 6 hours of their precious Saturday time to spend the day helping to plan the future for Mendocino Coast District Hospital. Professional facilitators, Michael and Kathy Philps led the audience through a discussion of MCDH’s accomplishments during the past 18 months and areas of need for concentation of effort for the next 2-3 years.
The end result is likely to be a product that will help to guide MCDH as it seeks to improve its physical plant facilities, improve community relationships, recruit new doctors and professional staff and to continue to improve it’s financial performance. Thank you to everyone that gave up your Saturday to help.
